About The Pend Oreille County Community Network System
Wind Storm Outage Update - July 29 2014
Our fiber technicians are in the process of starting to repair a 96 count fiber at Scotia and Camden Road. Once they complete this restoration of fiber they will redirect the data which will bring up the following hubs: DF72, CF18, DF230, DA21, FV117 and FV71. The estimated time of repair for this area is tomorrow, July 30th, by noon. Any customers that have damaged fiber beyond the hub will not be up at this time. Our techs will get the remaining customers up in this area once all of the mainline fiber has been restored. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
In 1996, the Pend Oreille Public Utility District began developing a sophisticated communications system to keep our electric system safe, reliable, and cost effective. We currently own and operate approximately 125 miles of Fiber Optic Backbone, stretching from Spokane to near the Canadian border. AND we our currently building over 500 miles of fiber to the premise through a $34 Million Stimulus Grant. The excess system capacity has been made available to our community. The formation of the Community Network System is the District’s successful strategy to bridge the Digital Divide for our communities. Watch video
